How to Plan Breast & Body Procedures for Summer 2025

If you’re considering a cosmetic procedure to feel more confident in summer wardrobe staples like swimsuits and form-fitting clothing, now is the perfect time to start planning. Timing your cosmetic surgery appropriately ensures you have enough time to heal and enjoy your results by the time warmer weather rolls around.
Here, board-certified Asheville plastic surgeon Dr. Donald Conway explains how to strategically plan some of the most popular procedures patients choose in preparation for the summer months.
When should I schedule my surgery to be ready by summer?
You will need a few weeks of initial healing and a few months for swelling to fully subside after surgery to enjoy your results with confidence by June or July. Dr. Conway recommends scheduling your procedure no later than early spring—that means booking your consultation now so your surgery can be performed in April or May at the latest.
These are general timelines for popular pre-summer procedures:
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation enhances breast volume and shape using implants. After surgery, you can typically resume normal activities within one week and can return to exercise after about four to six weeks. Residual swelling continues to resolve over the following months, so scheduling in April or May will allow enough time to fully heal and your implants to settle into their intended position and appearance so you feel comfortable in any attire this summer.

Breast Lift
A breast lift reshapes and elevates sagging breasts for a firmer, more youthful contour and can be performed on its own or with implants. If you’re bothered by breast drooping or downward-facing nipples, a breast lift can help restore symmetry and make clothing and swimwear more comfortable. Timing a breast lift is similar to breast augmentation, however, your recovery may be slightly shorter if you don’t add implants. You can schedule your breast lift in April or May and look great by early summer.
Schedule now, recover in spring, and enjoy your results by late summer.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes excess skin and tightens abdominal muscles to restore a smoother, firmer abdomen and waistline. Because this is a more involved procedure, you should allow at least six to eight weeks for recovery. You will need a full two weeks of rest and minimal activity immediately after surgery to heal enough to gradually resume daily tasks. Scheduling your tummy tuck in early spring means you can show off your new silhouette and won’t have any limitations in activity by mid-to-late summer.

Liposuction
Liposuction removes precise amounts of unwanted fat to help sculpt targeted areas of the body. The abdomen, flanks, thighs, back, and arms often have stubborn fat deposits that diet and exercise can’t fully address, but liposuction permanently removes fat cells in treated areas. While initial recovery is relatively quick, typically just a week, Dr. Conway may recommend wearing your compression garment for four to six weeks as swelling can take several months to completely resolve. Scheduling your liposuction procedure in April or early May is usually enough time to see your final body contour by July or August.
“I couldn’t be happier with the care I have received from Dr. Conway and team. Dr. Conway was so easy to discuss the procedure with and fully listened to all my concerns and questions. His team of nurses, Tammy and Anita, couldn’t have been better. They truly cared about me as a person and a patient. I highly recommend them!”

Mommy Makeover
A mommy makeover combines procedures like breast enhancement, tummy tuck, and liposuction to restore your pre-pregnancy figure. Because it involves multiple areas, recovery is more extensive—expect about eight weeks of downtime and several months for your body to fully adjust. Starting the planning process now will give you the time you need to feel confident and comfortable by the later part of summer.
Why it’s essential to plan as early as possible
Dr. Conway’s schedule fills up quickly in the months leading up to summer, especially for procedures with longer recovery periods. Starting your consultation process now not only ensures availability but also allows time to:
- Complete any necessary pre-op lab work
- Coordinate time off from work or family responsibilities
- Arrange for help during your recovery
- Properly prepare your body for surgery and healing
Note: Many patients undergo their desired procedures in early spring for a summer transformation, however, it’s OK if your schedule only allows for a late spring or summer surgery date. It’s very common for patients to have surgery once school is out or if they have lighter schedules during the summer months to allow for a more convenient recovery. In these cases, you will be recovered enough to still enjoy some warmer days and seasonal events of late summer and early fall. When you’re ready, we’ll be here for you.
