About your consultation with Dr. Conway in Asheville
If you are like most of our patients, you are new to cosmetic surgery. Understandably, you may have a lot of questions about your procedure options, what surgery is like, and what to expect throughout the process. Dr. Conway firmly believes that an informed patient is in the best position to enjoy a smooth plastic surgery experience and is most likely to be satisfied with his or her results. Patient education is a priority for Dr. Conway and our staff. We do our best to make sure you have all the information you need to feel confident in your decision to have surgery or any other procedure.
Getting started: call or contact us online
Your consultation process begins when you pick up the phone or send in your online contact form. Our friendly receptionist will greet you and ask how she can help. If you choose to contact us online, we will respond by phone or email within 24 hours whenever possible. We will get some basic contact information from you and schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Conway at the soonest available appointment. Depending on his schedule and yours, and the concerns to be addressed, we are typically able to book an initial consultation within 1 to 4 weeks after you call.
In the meantime, we will send you paperwork to fill out at your convenience that you can bring with you to your consultation. If you have any questions about the forms, you are encouraged to call our office for assistance.
Meet Dr. Conway and his plastic surgery team
When you arrive for your consultation, our front office staff will collect your paperwork and let Dr. Conway and his patient coordinator and nurse know that you have arrived. You are welcome to bring a family member or close friend to your consultation for support, or you can come on your own if you prefer. It is up to you.
Dr. Conway’s patient coordinator will introduce herself and walk you back to the exam room. Next, Dr. Conway and his nurse will come in to meet you and begin the consultation. While Dr. Conway will introduce himself, the majority of this time he will devote to listening to you, addressing any questions and concerns you may have, and helping you understand the different options to address your concerns. You will also have a chance to view before and after photos of Dr. Conway’s previous patients who have had the procedure you are considering.
If you are here about a breast or body procedure, you may be asked to change into a robe after your initial discussion so Dr. Conway can evaluate your area of concern. He and his nurse may ask permission to take photos to help him develop a surgical plan during this consultation, although this can be postponed if you are not yet sure you want to pursue surgery.
Learn about your procedure options
By the end of your consultation, Dr. Conway will have explained the procedure options he believes will best achieve your goals. You are encouraged to ask any questions and ask for clarification; we want you to fully understand your options. We will provide a detailed fee quote for any procedures you would like to consider. You are not obligated to make any decisions at this time. If you like, our patient care team will direct you toward some resources to help you further research your options.
Discuss financing and scheduling
The last step is to talk to our office staff about your options for cosmetic surgery financing and payment. We work with several companies that offer flexible payment plans and will be happy to help you learn more about these options. If you are ready to schedule your procedure, we can go ahead and do so at the conclusion of your consultation. However, your fee quote is good for 3 months, so if you need more time to make a decision, please take it.
Additionally, we typically schedule a second consultation prior to surgery to give you an opportunity to ask any questions that come up after you leave your initial consultation and ensure you are well-prepared for your upcoming procedure.
